We offer a wide range of volunteer opportunities to match different skills, interests, and availability. Below are some of the roles we are currently looking for:
Support Worker Volunteer
As a volunteer support worker, you will provide direct assistance to individuals who are facing homelessness, housing insecurity, or other challenges. You may be helping with applications for housing, benefits, or employment, and providing emotional support or guidance as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist individuals in completing housing and benefit applications.
Offer guidance and support with job searching, training, and educational opportunities.
Provide general advice on managing finances, budgeting, and accessing local services.
Be a listening ear and provide emotional support to people facing challenging circumstances.
Skills Required:
Empathy and understanding.
Good communication skills.
A willingness to learn about the issues faced by vulnerable individuals.
Experience filling out application forms and case notes
Community Outreach Volunteer
Outreach volunteers play an essential role in connecting with the community. You will engage with local groups, organisations, and individuals to raise awareness about our services and encourage referrals. Outreach work may also involve distributing food parcels, hygiene kits, and other essential supplies to those in need.
Key Responsibilities:
Raise awareness of I Am There’s services within local communities.
Distribute food, hygiene products, clothing, and other supplies to those who need them.
Attend community events or meetings to represent the organisation and build relationships with local partners.
Skills Required:
Strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
An understanding of local community issues and the challenges faced by marginalised groups.
Donation and Distribution Volunteer
Our donation and distribution volunteers help organise and distribute vital resources to individuals and families in need. Whether it’s sorting through donated clothing, assembling hygiene kits, or ensuring that food parcels are packed correctly, this role is crucial to keeping our services running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
Sort and organise food, clothing, and hygiene donations.
Assemble hygiene kits, clothing packages, and other resource packs for distribution.
Help deliver goods to individuals or coordinate delivery through other services.
Skills Required:
Organisational skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
A positive, can-do attitude.
Fundraising Volunteer
Help us raise the funds needed to support our mission. As a fundraising volunteer, you’ll play a key role in organising and supporting fundraising activities, including events, campaigns, and community outreach initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with the planning and organisation of fundraising events (such as charity walks, auctions, etc.).
Help with online fundraising campaigns (social media outreach, email campaigns, etc.).
Support grant writing efforts and provide ideas for fundraising activities.

Administration Volunteer

Assist with preparing documents, reports, and general administrative tasks.

How to Become a Volunteer
We welcome volunteers of all backgrounds and experiences. To join our team, simply follow these steps:
Fill Out Our Volunteer Application: Start by sending us an email with your CV and cover letter stating the position you are applying for. We may ask to complete a volunteer application form. This form will help us understand your interests and the types of roles you are most interested in.
Attend an Informal Interview: After submitting your application, you’ll be invited to attend a short interview. This will be a chance to learn more about the organisation and discuss the role that best suits your skills and interests.
Complete Volunteer Training: We provide training to all new volunteers so that you can feel confident in your role. Training will cover topics such as working with vulnerable individuals, confidentiality, and the practical aspects of your volunteer work.
Start Volunteering: Once you’ve completed training, you’ll begin your volunteer work! We’ll provide ongoing support and supervision to ensure you’re always equipped to succeed.
